Art in the Service of Science
Welcome to the world of Paul Royaux, where art and science intertwine to unveil the mysteries of the universe. Based in Lyon, Paul Royaux transforms abstract concepts from astrophysics, mathematics and quantum physics into fascinating works of art.
His unique approach, in black and white and executed in pointillism, captures the very essence of scientific beauty. Each illustration is an invitation to explore the fundamental laws that govern our world while contemplating their natural aesthetics. Here, mathematical equations become constellations, quantum particles blossom into hypnotic patterns, and distant galaxies come to life in the form of works imbued with graphic poetry.
This space celebrates the dialogue between two disciplines often perceived as opposing, but in reality deeply connected. Art translates the invisible, science makes it understandable. Together, they tell a universal story: that of our quest for meaning in the face of the immensity of the cosmos.
Explore, marvel and let yourself be transported by this universe where each point becomes a star, each line a trajectory, and each work a door to infinity.
Work in progress: Two Infinities
In this diptych, the two infinities are in the spotlight: the small and the large. The two illustrations will be presented as two sides of the same coin, two entities that are complete opposites, yet closely linked.

Two spheres, two cosmoses, two visions that respond to each other in silence.
On the left, the infinitely small: a constellation of units, nuclei, and atoms organized into concentric networks. The order is mathematical, almost cellular. Each point vibrates with microscopic precision, as if observing the secret fabric of matter. An intimate geometry, where emptiness is density, where the center attracts without crushing.
On the right, the infinitely large: an expanding universe, teeming, organic, open. Circles expand, shapes escape, responding to each other through resonance. This world is not fixed: it is movement, gravity, collision, the birth of stars, and the memory of vanished worlds. The order is cosmic, shifting, chaotic, and yet full of meaning.
Two Infinites bridges two extremes: the quantum and the cosmic, the intimate and the unattainable, the atom and the galaxy. Between them, the same matter, the same gesture: the point. Hundreds of thousands of points, patiently placed, abolishing scale and reminding us that infinity is not a direction, but a sensation.
In this interlacing of circles, textures, and silences, the eye drifts, dives, and rises. And we understand, perhaps, that looking at the infinitely small amounts to contemplating the infinitely large—and that one always speaks of the other.
